Aussie Cricketing Legend Grinning From Ear to Ear

Aussie cricketing legend Shane Warne is grinning from ear-to-ear.

Well he might be, given that gorgeous Liz Hurley has just accepted his marriage proposal, after he went down on one knee to pop the question during a stay in St Andrews, right here in Scotland.

Yet, there's probably more to Warne's beaming smile than simple delight at his new found romantic happiness.

The man who spent his professional sporting career tormenting English batsmen is rarely seen without a big, toothy grin on his face - and part of that is down to the fact that cosmetic dentistry has given him plenty to smile about.

Much has been made of Warney's makeover since he started dating fashion icon Hurley. Commentators have suggested he's used everything from fake tan to botox to achieve his new metrosexual look.

Whether or not Shane's had any 'work' done, he's certainly sported a new toned physique, a sharp new hairstyle and a revamped wardrobe. Much of this has been put down to style queen Hurley's influence.

However, what's beyond question is that Shane has paid special attention to his teeth - and as this article in the  Sydney Morning Herald makes clear, that was something he dabbled with long before Liz made her presence felt.

As a cricket fan, I know that in Scotland it is something of a minority sport, so just let me recap on Warne's achievements. He is one of the greatest sportsmen ever to grace a cricket pitch. During his playing career he was as much renowned for his on field quips and his off-field socialising.

In other words, he's a man who never lacked confidence. So it is telling that when he started working on improving his own image back in 2006, he did so by straightening his teeth and undergoing teeth whitening. 

Basically Shane discovered what more and more men are learning - confidence begins with a smile.
