How Dental Implants Work

Cosmetic dentistry, dental implants

Single tooth dental implant procedure

A dental implant is essentially an exact replica of a natural tooth, replacing the crown and root, with a porcelain exterior and metal core.

It works by installing a replica titanium tooth root into the jaw at the exact place where the tooth is intended to be and as close to the bone as possible. This creates an initial stability and within a few months the living bone grows around the titanium root, forming a permanent and secure bond - similar to that of a healthy tooth root.

A metal post is then foxed onto the bonded titanium and the replacement porcelain crown is attached creating a perfectly natural looking tooth.

Using the most advanced dental technology, dental implants not only provide a natural solution, but leave patients with a secure and practical new tooth.
